Say hello to Kauai, version 3 of my little blog. Still working out some kinks, but most of it is good to go. I’d consider this a vast improvement over the previous version, both in aesthetics and code. I took the picture in the footer at our hotel during our honeymoon (almost a year ago!). Alas, this will be as close as I’ll get to Hawaii this year.

The list so far

It’s been more than a month since my list, and I only have a green card to show for it. To make matters worse, I’m behind in the Bible reading program, and I can’t find my Moleskine notebook for the life of me. Well, at least I have been forcing myself to wake up early, and watching 24 doesn’t require much effort at all. After all, I gotta give myself some freebies.

Now about revamping this blog. The current incarnation of my little blog was a result of my participation in last year’s CSS Reboot. I must say the event turned out to be quite a bit of a disappointment, mainly due to apathy on the organizer’s part. Moreover, I hastily cobbled together a layout in order to make the November 1 deadline, and the results were not what I expected. Therefore, a redesign has always been on my mind.

I thought it might be kind of cool to give this little project a codename. Microsoft used “Longhorn” before picking Vista as a name, and Apple uses ferocious cats to name their different versions of OS X. Not to be outdone, bloggers name their redesign projects, too. Well, I like the idea, but I’m hesitant to use names from Greek or Norse mythology (since Pegasus is an obvious choice), but I risk sounding too grandiose and perhaps inappropriate for the style. It’s a fun little exercise, but I haven’t come up with anything decent yet. I thought about using “My Thesis” so I can brag to people that I’m working hard on “My Thesis.” Ha…maybe not. I’m open to suggestions, though.

Anyway, I thought I’d put up some evidence of progress. So far I have a grid , and some improvements on the logo. At this rate, it might finish by the time the next CSS Reboot comes around on May 1 (if it even happens), but I certainly hope to be done by then.

'Tis the season

When stores redecorate with snowflakes and Santas, and when websites get a themed makeover or a touch of frosty goodness, you know it’s almost…Thanksgiving.

It seems like store decorations have skipped from Halloween straight to Christmas, probably because, well, you just don’t give gifts for Thanksgiving. Or is it because, for some, Thanksgiving isn’t the holiday it once was?

Whatever the reason, these new decorations are up, and they help usher in the holiday cheer. And I thought it might be time to decorate around our humble little online homes. Chan’s blog refers to the wrong season, and this fledgling blog has, in my opinion, sacrificed personality for technical precision during the reboot. So, expect some new winter clothes for our blogs, and hopefully we can help spread the holiday spirit.

Oh, and I promise to do this after Thanksgiving.
