Version 4

After my little retrospective on my birthday, I felt the need to finish revamping this blog (visually, that is). So here it is, version 4. Be sure you give the browser a good hard refresh. But given the lack of activity here, I doubt it’s necessary for anyone. It’s back to the basics, and making sure I put every single HTML element in its proper place, while maintaining a decently organized stylesheet. Good practice for the upcoming Big Rewrite at work. Moreover, I’m getting better at Textpattern — an awesome CMS IMHO.

New Section

Along with the new design, I decided to add a new section to the blog, just to try to make the blog a little bit more interesting. There I will be spouting hot air about movies, TV shows, musicals, and music that I’ve either enjoyed or endured. I’ve written a few to kick it off.

So What Now?

Hopefully I’ll stick to my little list and post more. More personal projects coming down the pipeline. And of course, stay tuned for the new Goldstar.com

Well, the site looks great! I’m a huge fan of Minimalism an the white along with the grid layout and meticulous placement of graphical elements really makes it an aesthetically pleasing design to look at.

I’ve dabble with Textpattern in the past but the whole process of customizing themes drove me crazy. Wordpress became easier to manage at the time. I like the movie review incorporation into the site. I just might have to borrow the idea, lol. Take care.

Love the design, what a refreshing change from the usual barrage of web 2.0 style sites.

The only thing I would do is add more padding to the comment form fields and possibly darken the fields’ borders.

    Top notch stuff.

@Noel: Thanks for the compliments! By padding to the form fields, did you mean adding more padding to the gray area that surrounds them?

@David: I mean adding more padding to the white form fields and the grey buttons.

Take a look at the comment submission field I designed for Veglog to get a better sense of what I mean. Feel free to copy the CSS if you like, the code should be a drop-in replacement since Veglog was also built on Textpattern.

    Cheers!

@Noel: Thanks for the tips! It’s working out very nicely.
