We are leaving Irvine

Tomorrow I will officially bid goodbye to Irvine, my home for the past 5 years, and move back to LA County (Pasadena, to be exact). It’s bittersweet, as I’ve come to love the wide open spaces and clean, modern environment that defines this part of Orange County.

We also say goodbye to the apartment where we spent the first year of marriage. The rent wasn’t cheap, but from our housing hunt in Pasadena I realized that Irvine Company actually offers more bang for your buck. We move closer to the Asian-heavy suburbs in the San Gabriel Valley, but ironically we will have to drive farther to find a 99 Ranch.

What I won’t miss are neighbors who like to slam their doors, college students (and recent graduates) who think it’s okay to drive through the complex with their bass turned all the way up, and the silverfish that we find crawling through our apartment at the most inopportune times (but is any time opportune?). I’m hoping we won’t find these in Pasadena, but I guess we’ll see.
